Love mince pies but not the biggest fan of all the pastry?
Fear not my friends, here is a naughty but very tasty alternative that is delicious for an after dinner nibble with a coffee.
These make such a lovely gift for adults, and the delicious addition of Brandy and Rum give a fairly nice kick to the chocolate.
The roasted Hazelnuts are the icing on the cake(?) here, adding an almost Ferrero Rocher element to these Truffles.
Mince Pie and Hazelnut Truffles
200g Milk Chocolate
300g Dark Chocolate
200ml Double cream
1/2 a cup of dried mixed fruit(sultanas/mixed peel/cherries)
1 tsp brandy
1 tsp Rum
2 handfuls hazelnuts
Place the fruit in a bowl with the rum and the brandy and allow to soak up the alcohol.
Melt the chocolate and add the double cream.
Add the fruit to the chocolate mixture and place in a dish in the fridge for at least 6 hours (works well overnight)
Roast the hazelnuts in the oven for about 5 minutes on a high heat, then blitz to a crumb with a blender.
When set, use a teaspoon to scoop out even amount of mixture, and roll into balls.
Roll in the Hazelnut crumb and place in the fridge to set.
